“ Finally got to try howlin rays after having it bookmarked for YEARS. This location has a parking lot, however it's small and only has about 15-20 spots. I ended up parking in the residential area which is only a few mins of a walk away. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the staff here are friendly. I love that they have a pebble ice machine and water station that we can freely help ourself to. I got the medium spice chicken sandwich, 1 mild tender, 1 mild wing, & potato salad to try. All were very delicious. I love how tender and juicy the chicken is. The potato salad is very pickly - lots of pickle chunks, but was good. Howlin Rays is good but it didn't make it as the #1 spicy chicken spot in my heart. ”
“ Dropped by on a Saturday afternoon, and the wait was about 30 minutes. Service was top-notch; the staff handed umbrellas to everyone in line. Additionally, they provide table-reserving services for dine-in guests. Despite the busyness, the restaurant was tidy and clean. The Sando featured a thick, juicy piece of chicken combined with a rich and flavorful sauce. The food is spicier than expected, it is shameful to say that I struggled with the first spice level (mild). The restaurant does offer free ice water and sparkling water to customers. After reading a review, I decided to try out the Crème Soda. It was very fizzy with a light hint of vanilla, reminding me of Universal Studio's Butterbeer from the Harry Potter Zone. Overall, it was a positive experience. I will revisit for a non-spicy version. ”
“ Best chicken sandwich l've had in a long time the ambience is amazing and the staff went above and beyond welcoming us, They got a customer for life. Thank you again Amanda and the Team keep killing it! ”
“ Had howlin rays for the first time today had to check it out see what all the hype was about and was very pleased! The chicken sando was much better than most hot chicken places. Very juicy and full of flavor. However my favorite part of the experience was the service and employees. They all make you feel very welcomed and are built like a family. Special shout out to Makua who works there he recommended the place to me and am glad he did. 5 stars baby ”
“ This was my first time at this location, and I remember waiting over an hour. I ordered the Sando with Hot Spicy. I remembered the Sando was so good and juicy, and how I was sweating from the spice. The parking lot was packed, and I was a little nervous about where I parked, but fortunately, I didn't get a ticket. The staff here were super friendly. One of them asked what I was up to that day, and another complimented my shoes. Someone else also made sure to let me know they were available if I needed anything else. Free sparkling water was available while you wait, and I ended up waiting about 20 minutes. I had expected a longer wait. I ordered the Sando with Medium Spicy and a side of potato salad. The chicken had great flavor from the seasoning. However, I remembered it being juicier. I'll definitely go for the Hot Spicy again because I didn't feel the burn at all! I loved the potato salad! The potato salad was excellent. I highly recommend to order, and if you need something to cool down your palate if the chicken is too spicy. Although I didn't try the tenders this time, I saw other customers with them, and they looked massive! I'll be ordering those next time, also with Hot Spicy! ”
“ Came on a Sunday afternoon around 11:30 and there was no line!! We were so excited as there has been a line every time we drive by. The lady at the order counter was really nice and even offered us a sample of the x-hot spiciness level. We got our order about 10-15 mins afterwards and everything was fresh and tasted amazing. The x-hot was pretty spicy and it definitely builds up. I'd say it's comparable to the Buldak level spiciness but it builds up more as you eat! The staff was friendly and everything was clean. Would be back and hoping the lines aren't as bad in the future. ”
“ First time at this Pasadena location. We came on a rainy day. They handed out some samples of chicken noodle soup and let people borrow umbrellas. There was still a wait to get in as the staff made sure not to keep the line moving faster than food is prepared. About 20 mins wait in line starting from the driveway, plus 10 more minutes after order. Once we put in our order we got led to a table to wait. There were some postcards and buttons as well as crayons for the kids. We ordered the Sando 2.0 and chicken and waffles with fries. This was more than enough for two! Food was tasty and juicy. Medium was hot enough for us! Clean bathrooms and available parking in the back. ”
“ DELICIOUS !!! Oh man the wait was around 30 minutes but it was WORTH the wait, I'm so glad my friend recommended me to try this place out. Couldn't be more happier with my experience here. I got the sando 2.0 with the secret menu item Mario Style Fries !! The sandwich tasted amazing, that chicken crunch was amazing. I loved the Mario style fries, had a lot of great components from the sauce to the chicken. The interior of the restaurant was super nice and the bathroom is decorated like a disco party which I thought was cool. Also cant forget about the outstanding service, the workers here are on top of their game, always making sure we have everything we need and having a good time. Big applaud to the workers! ”
“ Howlin Ray's Chicken, what can you say it's damn good ok great but you're going to wait... Sometimes, wait is an understatement, LOL!! Unlike their Chinatown location, getting chicken here is much easier, but still, you're going to wait... If I'm by myself, it's worth my time, but when with the family, it's tough because for those that have kids/teens, they don't like to wait at all... The staff here do their best to get you in and and out. The chicken is always fresh and flavorful. it's hard not to want more. There are secret menu items not listed anywhere I have learned of one, and once I try, I will post my pictures... If you're not in a rush for some great chiken stop at the location, plenty of street parking leading up the front door. ”
“ Found out about this location a few months ago on a trip with friends down to Pasadena. Was really surprised to see they opened up a second location in the area, but really happy about it because I don't like braving the drive and wait time at the Chinatown location. I'd say the wait here is comparable to the Chinatown location, if not marginally better. They have a pretty limited parking lot considering how many people actually come here to eat, but I appreciate that they have a dedicated lot at all versus the Chinatown location where you default just have to pay for parking. Here, if the lot is full, you can find free street parking pretty quick nearby. Is the wait still worth it for the food? Yes. YESSSS. This place is my favorite hot chicken sandwich place ever. There's no contest. The wait can get kind of ridiculous, so do try to either come with friends or come during off hours. I got The Sando and fries both times. The Sando is pretty much perfect. My husband got The Sando 2.0, but...I don't like all the additional toppings, I think it distracts and detracts from the perfection of the spicy chicken flavor, to be honest. And my husband agreed with me. Their fries are really good too! Great crispy crunch and a nice, fluffy inside. Good spice as well. Also, medium is like a hot at other places. Their hot is like HOT. My husband keeps getting hot every time and underestimating how hot their hot actually is lol. I think their medium is perfect actually, although probably a tad to hot for most people. They also have sparkling water on tap!!! Whoever made that decision is galaxy-brained. It's cold, crisp, perfectly bubbly. S-tier. Thank you for having this. I got so excited the first time I saw it. I wish more places had sparkling water as an option. I choose it over plain water everytime. Service is EXCELLENT!!! Really friendly, helpful, prompt and attentive staff. S-tier customer service. Sometimes they have a waitlist for the seats when it's crowded, so be aware sometimes you may not be able to just sit down. They'll have you give your name and party size to one of the employees that'll come and fetch you when a table frees up. I wonder if there's a way that they can signify this to customers? I made the mistake with my group by just sitting down at a table on our first visit, and have seen many parties do the same on my first and second visit. Will definitely be back!! I really wish they'd open up other locations in different areas (Cerritos!!!). I would legit probably never go to another spicy chicken sandwich place than Howlin Ray's if I had one nearby fjkdhgkdjrtgird. ”
